  the present work, we have studied t
 he structural stability of the inner
  column of a Diffuser Augmented Wind
  Turbine (DAWT). The study model is 
 an existing, under-development wind 
 turbine. \n Diffuser Augmented Wind 
 Turbines function extremely well in 
 terms of performance. The volume of 
 the diffuser causes the ambient air 
 to redirect and accelerate as it pas
 ses through the tunnel in the center
  of the diffuser. This additional fl
 ow and acceleration provide a higher
  energy output. Increasing to larger
  diameters this advantage reversing 
 and turning it into a greater stumbl
 ing block. The wind resistance that 
 augments the energy output is carrie
 d through the structure to the groun
 d. This also increases the forces th
 at the structure must withstand to t
 remendous levels. Unfortunately, thi
 s stumbling block limits the size of
  DAWTs; therefore they cannot direct
 ly compete with Horizontal Axis Wind
  Turbines (HAWT), whose development 
 has taken them to unfathomable heigh
 ts. \n This does not mean that there
  is no reason for further research a
 nd development of DAWTs, which, as w
 e have already mentioned, have signi
 ficantly higher performance at simil
 ar blade diameters compared to HAWTs
 . DAWTs may be an alternative in man
 y specific locations and may be a so
 lution that is worth investigating i
 n the fight against climate change. 
 \n As our study shows, the DAWT’s st
 ructure is subjected to very strong 
 frontal forces, due to the drag of t
 he diffuser. For this reason, we int
 end to investigate the strength of t
 he metal column holding the diffuser
 , using finite element analysis (FEA
 ). We have attempted to strengthen t
 he critical points while keeping the
  overall size narrow. We are trying 
 to find a technically and economical
 ly feasible solution to the problem 
 and have tried to optimize the proje
 ct to some extent. The whole process
  is illustrated in the following dia
 gram. This cycle was performed a num
 ber of times, while in this study we
  present only the final iteration an
 d the corresponding results. \n  \n
