This thesis explores the field of hy
 drocarbon reservoir mechanics, focus
ing on oil recovery techniques throu
gh reservoir simulation. The main ob
jective is to investigate the capabi
lities of the MATLAB Reservoir Simul
ation Toolbox (MRST) in modeling and
  analyzing oil production scenarios.
\n The study begins with an examinat
ion of the SPE1 benchmark problem, w
hich serves as a standard reference
 for validating reservoir simulation
models. In this context, different p
 roduction parameters were modified t
o observe their influence on product
 ion performance. Subsequently, new s
 imulation codes were developed speci
 fically for the numerical investigat
ion of the Water Alternating Gas (WA
 G) method, enabling a more customize
d study of multiphase flow behavior,
  pressure and saturation dynamics. F
 urthermore, the thesis compares the
 efficiency of various secondary oil
 recovery methods, including water in
jection, gas injection and the WAG t
 echnique. Simulation results indicat
ed that the WAG method offers the hi
 ghest oil recovery rates, combining
the benefits of water and gas inject
 ion while reducing inefficiencies su
ch as trapped oil, early gas or wate
 r breakthrough and uneven displaceme
nt of oil. \n In conclusion, our stu
 dy demonstrates the versatility and
efficiency of MRST in reservoir mode
ling and simulation. It highlights t
he WAG method as a particularly prom
 ising strategy for maximizing hydroc
arbon recovery, provided it is caref
 ully calibrated based on reservoir-s
 pecific geological conditions.\n Λέξ
