The 12th edition of top scientists ranking was published by Research.com, one of the major websites for research offering credible data on scientific contributions since 2014. The ranking contains D-index and publication and citation numbers, data that were collected on January 12, 2026.

This year, the ranking for 2026 includes seven (7) Professors of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Technical University of Crete (TUC).
 

Computer Science

In Computer Science, the list includes four (4) Professors of the School of ECE at TUC.

1. No 3 in Greece: Professor Minos Garofalakis (D-index 75, 19355 citations, 291 publications)
    
2. No 31 in Greece: Professor Sotiris Ioannidis (D-index 50, 10097 citations, 256 publications)
    
3. No 64 in Greece: Professor Thrasyvoulos Spyropoulos (D-index 40, 13818 citations, 162 publications)
    
4. No 71 in Greece: Associate Professor Evangelos Kalogerakis (D-index 39, 11308 citations, 80 publications)

Also, Stavros Christodoulakis, Emeritus Professor of the School of ECE of TUC, is ranked 108th in Greece, with a D-index of 32, 5700 citations to his work, and 204 publications.

Electronics and Electrical Engineering

In Electronics and Electrical Engineering, the list includes three (3) Professors of the School of ECE at TUC.

1. No 25 in Greece: Professor Thrasyvoulos Spyropoulos (D-index 40, 13692 citations, 144 publications)
    
2. No 37 in Greece: Professor Eftichios Koutroulis (D-index 34, 8887 citations, 116 publications)
    
3. No 44 in Greece: Professor Aggelos Bletsas (D-index 31, 5341 citations, 148 publications)

Note that Professor Bletsas appears with affiliation to a foreign institution, where he currently works on leave from TUC.
