Emeritus Professor Evangelos Gidarakos of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete will participate as a speaker at the conference entitled “Crete on the Path to a Circular Economy – Proper Waste Management as an Investment in the Future,” which will take place on Thursday, 9 July, at the Experimental Theatre of the Heraklion Cultural and Conference Centre.
Professor Gidarakos will take part in the thematic session “Management of Industrial and Hazardous Waste,” where he will discuss the current challenges and future prospects of the safe management of hazardous waste, as well as the pivotal role of scientific knowledge and innovation in advancing the circular economy.
The conference is organized by Polyeco and ANAKEM under the auspices of the Municipality of Heraklion, the Unified Waste Management Association of Crete (ESDAK), and the Intermunicipal Enterprise for Solid Waste Management (DEDISA). It will bring together representatives from government, local authorities, the scientific community, and the business sector to exchange knowledge and best practices for promoting the circular economy and sustainable waste management in Crete.
