Participation of the Equal Accessibility Unit of the Technical University of Crete in the 2nd Equal Accessibility Unit Festival of the University of Patras

The Equal Accessibility Unit of the Technical University of Crete participated in the 2nd Festival of the Equal Accessibility Unit of the University of Patras, which took place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

The Technical University of Crete was represented by Ariadni Pantidou, Specialized Technical Laboratory Staff member at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Scientific Coordinator of the Equal Accessibility Unit (EAU), Mariana Grammenou, Administrative Support Officer of the Unit, and Alexandra Kouliaveta, Psychologist of the Unit.

During the presentation of the Unit, within the session dedicated to best practices among Greek universities, the team presented the work, initiatives, and strategic planning of the Equal Accessibility Unit of the Technical University of Crete. In particular, they highlighted the initiatives implemented to support students with disabilities and/or special educational needs, the recording and mapping of their needs, as well as planned interventions aimed at improving physical and digital accessibility across the university campus.

In this context, reference was also made to the development of accessible educational material and supportive digital tools, training and awareness-raising activities for the academic community, and the creation of a volunteering and peer-mentoring network to support students.

Special emphasis was also placed on the collaboration between the Equal Accessibility Unit and other support structures of the Technical University of Crete, such as the Center for Teaching and Learning Support and the Counseling and Psychological Support Office, with the aim of providing comprehensive and meaningful inclusion and support services.

The participation of the Equal Accessibility Unit of the Technical University of Crete in the Festival constituted a valuable opportunity for the exchange of ideas and best practices with the Equal Accessibility Units of other Greek Universities, while also showcasing the work being carried out at the Technical University of Crete in the field of equal participation and inclusion.
