The Rector of the Technical University of Crete, Professor Konstantinos-Alketas Ouggrinis, participated in a meeting of representatives from 16 Greek and 40 French public universities, held in Paris on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Nikos Papaioannou and President of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) Periklis Mitkas.
The meeting took place as part of the implementation of the Action Plan between the Hellenic Republic and the French Republic for the enhancement of higher education and scientific research for the period 2026–2030. The shared objective is to expand cooperation between academic institutions in the two countries and create new opportunities for students, academics, and researchers.
The discussions focused on strengthening the mobility of students, academic and administrative staff, developing additional joint postgraduate programmes and doctoral co-supervision programmes, as well as exploring new opportunities for research collaboration.
The participants also examined opportunities to further leverage the European Universities Alliances, with the aim of fostering even closer links between universities in Greece and France.
