Professor Elia Psillakis of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete was invited to deliver keynote lectures at two major international scientific conferences held in September 2026.
At the 7th International Congress on Biosensors – Biosensors 2026, held from September 2 to 4, 2026, in Ordu, Türkiye, and organized by Ordu University, Professor Psillakis delivered a keynote lecture entitled “The Ten Misunderstandings of Green and Sustainable Chemistry.” Biosensors 2026 is a major biennial international conference in the field of biosensors, bringing together interdisciplinary research and applications in nanotechnology, biotechnology, and engineering.
Professor Psillakis was also one of the keynote speakers at the XXXII National Congress of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society (Società Chimica Italiana – Divisione di Chimica Analitica), known as Analitica 2026. The conference was held from September 6 to 10, 2026, at the Ca’ Foscari University Campus in Mestre, Venice. Other internationally renowned invited speakers included Professor Susana Campuzano Ruiz of Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and Professor Ralf Ebinghaus of the Institute of Coastal Environmental Chemistry, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany.
The central theme of Professor Psillakis’ keynote lectures was a critical examination of the methodological and conceptual foundations of Green and Sustainable Analytical Chemistry, with particular emphasis on the use of organic solvents.
Her participation as an invited keynote speaker at two major international scientific conferences highlights the contribution of the Technical University of Crete to contemporary research in Green and Sustainable Analytical Chemistry and reflects the international recognition of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering’s research activities in the field.
