The Technical University of Crete is bringing to Chania the largest celebration of science and research, the “European Researchers’ Night”, which will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 17:00 to 22:00, at the 1st Experimental Gymnasium of Chania.
European Researchers’ Night is a major, open-to-all celebration held simultaneously across Europe, with the aim of creating a vibrant meeting space between researchers and society.
The Technical University of Crete is participating with more than 15 Research Laboratories, where professors, researchers, and students from all Schools of the Institution will present their work through interactive workshops, experiments, scientific demonstrations, presentations, games, and hands-on activities. Visitors will have the opportunity to actively engage with science: to observe, experiment, ask questions, and seek answers together with researchers.
For just one evening, research steps out of universities and laboratories and comes closer to citizens. Children, young people, families, educators, and visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to meet researchers, talk with them, and discover first-hand how scientific questions emerge and how research contributes to understanding and improving the world around us.
The “European Researchers’ Night” is organized by the Technical University of Crete as part of the European project “SCIENCE FOR GROWTH - EMPOWERING MINDS (STEPS)”, funded by the Horizon Europe - Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme.
The project partners are the Technical University of Crete, the University of Crete (Coordinator), and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (ΕΛΚΕΘΕ).
