Tablet4Goalball – Technology for Inclusive Sport | Erasmus+ Sport | Project Announcement

We are proud to announce the launch of Tablet4Goalball, an Erasmus+ Sport project dedicated to enhancing accessibility, participation, and the spectator experience in Goalball for people with visual impairments.

The project focuses on the development and pilot testing of an innovative touchscreen tablet with tactile feedback, allowing visually impaired athletes and spectators to better understand game dynamics in real time. Built on existing research and IoT-based applications, Tablet4Goalball adapts cutting-edge technology to the unique needs of Goalball, a Paralympic sport.

The project brings together sports organisations, researchers, and Goalball clubs from across Europe to co-design, test, and evaluate this solution in real sporting environments.

Our goal:
To promote inclusion, equal access to sport, and digital innovation, while laying the groundwork for future applications of this technology in other sports.

Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union

The logo shows a stylised illustration of a Goalball athlete emerging from a large tablet screen. The athlete, representing Goalball players, is wearing a blindfold and dressed in an orange shirt and dark trousers. One arm is extended forward while the other hand holds a textured blue Goalball, symbolising movement and interaction with the tablet. The tablet is shown in perspective behind the athlete, suggesting the integration of digital technology into sport.

In the top of the image is the logo of the European Union and reads Co-Funded by the European Union. Below the illustration, the project title “TABLET FOR GOALBALL” appears in bold capital letters, with “Tablet for” in blue and “Goalball” in orange.

At the bottom of the image, partner logos (Alma Sports Development, Technical University of Crete, Old Power, Hansa, and European Goalball Club Association) are displayed in a row, representing the organisations involved in the project. The overall colour scheme of blue, orange, and white conveys innovation, energy, and inclusion. The logo conveys the idea that technology supports accessibility and participation in Goalball for people with visual impairments.
