The FSTUC Racing Team, the student Formula Student team of the Technical University of Crete, successfully unveiled Selene, its new high-performance Formula racing car, before a large audience on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Centre of Mediterranean Architecture (ΚΑΜ) in Chania.
The event featured opening remarks by Professor Vasileios Kouikoglou, Scientific Supervisor of the FSTUC Racing Team and faculty member of the School of Production Engineering and Management, Professor Panagiotis Partsinevelos of the School of Mineral Resources Engineering, Spyros Balantinos, Deputy Regional Governor of Crete responsible for Primary Sector and Tourism Connectivity, and Dimitra Tyrali, Brand Marketing & CRM Specialist at Yamaha Motor Greece (Motodynamics Group), which supplied the engine for the team's new vehicle.
During the event, the team officially presented its latest Formula racing car, the fourth vehicle it has designed and built, to members of the university community, sponsors, and supporters. The unveiling took place just before the team's departure for Austria, where it will compete in the prestigious Formula Student Austria competition at the iconic Spielberg Circuit, facing leading university teams from around the world.
The new car incorporates significant technological upgrades, innovative design solutions, and performance optimizations, reflecting the team's continuous dedication and intensive engineering efforts.
FSTUC (Formula Students Technical University of Crete) was founded in 2020 by students who shared the vision of designing and building a high-performance Formula racing car to compete in international Formula Student competitions. In 2022, the team officially became a recognized organization within the Technical University of Crete.
Today, the team brings together active students from all schools of the Technical University of Crete and is organized into three core divisions, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Marketing, forming a multidisciplinary and highly coordinated organization. These divisions were presented in detail to the audience during the event.
The unveiling ceremony was co-organized with the Municipality of Chania.
