Top International Recognition of Excellence for Konstantinos Gyftakis, Professor ECE – IEEE IAS Distinguished Lecturer 2026-2027

Konstantinos Gyftakis, Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Technical University of Crete, has been appointed a Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEE IAS) for the years 2026 and 2027.

Specifically, Konstantinos Gyftakis is one of three Distinguished Lecturers appointed from Geographic Region 8 (which includes Europe, Africa, and the Middle East) and one of a total of 9 Distinguished Lecturers worldwide for the 2026–2027 term.

Being elected as a Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Industry Applications Society is a highly prestigious recognition awarded to individuals with outstanding technical and professional contributions in the ΙΕΕΕ IAS areas of interest, as well as the ability to communicate and disseminate knowledge internationally. These individuals represent the IEEE IAS worldwide through technical lectures. Beyond their technical expertise, the lecturers are also long-standing volunteers of the IEEE IAS. The program plays a crucial role in connecting experienced researchers and technical experts from various IEEE regions directly to chapters.

His lectures focus on the field of fault diagnosis and prognosis in electrical machines, as follows:

  1. Modern Aspects and Challenges on the Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis of Electrical Machines

  2. Health Assessment of Permanent Magnet Generators for Remote Renewables

  3. Frequency Response Analysis for Off-line Testing of Electrical Machines
