An innovative ridesharing application for members of the Technical University of Crete is now available through the TUC Ridesharing app.

Supervised by Professor Georgios Chalkiadakis of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the application was developed in 2025 as part of the thesis of School student Spyros Charitakis. It is the first application of its kind in Greece and the third worldwide to implement a secure ridesharing service exclusively for members of a university community.

TUC Ridesharing App enables students, faculty members, and staff to share rides to and from the Technical University of Crete by authenticating with their institutional accounts. This ensures that both drivers and passengers interact exclusively with verified members of the university community.

The application is designed as a community ridesharing platform, offering a safe alternative to hitchhiking. It operates without financial compensation for rides, without usage fees, and without advertisements, promoting mutual support, sustainable mobility, and the reduction of the environmental impact of daily commuting.

TUC Ridesharing is available for both Android and IOS devices. It features route maps, an intuitive user interface across all screens, clear ride visualization, and full support for Greek, English, and French.
