Webinar on "Critical Raw Materials and Sustainable Metallurgy: Novel Refining Technologies and Advanced Simulation Tools from the HE ENICON Project" | Monday 08.12.2025 | 14:00-16:00 CET

The Laboratory of Management of Mining / Metallurgical Wastes and Rehabilitation of Contaminated Soils of the School of Mineral Resources Engineering at the Technical University of Crete (TUC), with the support of the European project Horizon Europe ΕΝΙCΟΝ(*), organize the 4th Capacity Building Webinar, titled

"Critical Raw Materials and Sustainable Metallurgy:
Novel Refining Technologies and Advanced Simulation Tools"

The webinar will be held online on Monday December 8 2025, 14.00-16.00 CET (that is, 15:00-17:00 at TUC - EET time zone).

Explore innovative approaches to critical raw materials, electrifying metallurgical processes, and advanced simulation tools for techno-economic and environmental assessment through the following two talks, which will be delivered as part of the webinar:

  • Mineral and metal criticality in Europe’s energy transition, addressing essential materials and emerging refining technologies like ENICON’s electrifying metallurgy (14:00-15:00 CET)
    Professor Mari Lundström, AALTO University

  • Innovative tools for process simulation, Techno-economic and environmental assessment – an introduction to the SUPERPRO platform (15:00-16:00 CET)
Associate Professor Dimitris Ipsakis, Technical University of Crete

The seminar is aimed at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students, as well as early-stage researchers, and professionals interested in advancing their expertise in sustainable metallurgy and process simulation.
