The Main Collection of the L.I.Ce. contains the majority of the printed material of the Library and Information Center, monographs, diploma-theses of postgraduate and doctoral level and reference books (dictionaries, handbooks, encyclopedias). It covers all the scientific fields in which the members of the TUC community are directly interested in: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Management, Technology, Mechanics, Engineering, Geology, Computer Science, Geography and Architecture. There are also books of general interest as: Art, Philosophy, Literature, Psychology and History.
The material is classified on the shelves according to the Library of Congress Classification System (LC), which uses alphabetical and numerical symbols in order to describe the world of knowledge. This system is based on the division of knowledge in subject categories, indicated by one or two letters of the Latin alphabet.
All main collection material is loanable material, except for the reference books (marked with a red label) which can be studied only within the library. The Main Collection is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the D1 library building.
