EURECA-PRO I&E Course | Lecture 05 | 27.04.2022, 14:00 EET | Mission – Organizational Structure – Strategy

The Technical University of Crete, in the context of EURECA-PRO, the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production, organizes a free online course on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship", consisting of a series of 14 lectures presented by leading professors and researchers of seven European universities from six countries. The goal is to nurture students and scientific staff in creative and innovative thinking by providing practical knowledge, skills and competences in business and market basics, offering business plan orientation, and promoting problem-solution thinking and leadership skills.

The 5th lecture of the series is titled

Abstract

Development and communication of a strategic vision. Linking to and development of mission statement guided by core values. Setting objectives for performance measurement in order to devise and craft a strategy. Balanced scorecard method to combine the financial (short term) and strategic (long term) objectives for a complete view on the organization progress. Strategy-making hierarchy comprises corporate, business, functional area and operating levels. Strategic plan implementation requires monitoring and performance evaluation provide feedback for adjustments and revision of the strategy in time. The ‘sense of purpose’ to move from shareholder to stakeholder capitalism. Contemporary challenges: Mission oriented policies to fulfill public purpose; institutional innovations for market reshaping and creation.

Short Bio

Dr. Stelios Rozakis is an Associate Professor with the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete (TUC). Prior to joining TUC, he was an Associate Professor with the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development, Agricultural University of Athens. His research interests lie in the areas of operations research and policy analysis in agriculture, energy and the environment.
