Elsevier and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) introduce 'Solar Energy Advances' – a brand new, fully open access journal. Led by Editor-in-Chief Professor Denia Kolokotsa (School of Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete) and an international team of editors, 'Solar Energy Advances is the open access companion journal to the highly-regarded Solar Energyand will provide authors with a high quality option for their articles whilst providing readers with freely accessible, significant research.

'Solar Energy Advances' has a broad scope and aims to provide a forum for the presentation of fundamental scientific advances in the understanding on any aspect of solar energy research, development, application, measurement or policy.

Committed to help deliver the UN’s sustainable development goals, 'Solar Energy Advances welcomes the submissions of articles at the forefront of solar energy research, truly advancing the field and helping us move towards a world with 100% renewable energy for everyone used wisely and efficiently.

Denia Kolokotsa is Professor of Energy Management at the School of Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete. She served as Associate Editor of 'Energy and Buildings' and as Editor-in-Chief of 'Advances in Building Energy Research'. Since 2011 she is President of the European Cool Roofs Council. She has coordinated numerous international iesearch projects in the field of Energy Management in the Built Environment and she is the author of more than 100 papers published in high impact scientific journals.

Prof. Kolokosta says, “I feel honoured and excited to be selected by ISES and Elsevier as the Editor in Chief of the new ISES open access journal 'Solar Energy Advances' that will complement the successful ISES Solar Energy Journal. I am looking forward to collaborating with top researchers in the interdisciplinary ecosystem of solar energy technology, systems, policy, applications and to reveal its impact on sustainable development, climate change, resilience, circular economy, and social justice. By undertaking this challenging role in the new ISES journal, I anticipate revealing the research and development role in the solar energy fields to solve current and upcoming scientific, technological, societal, and economic challenges."

ISES President Prof Klaus Vajen said, “The ISES community is pleased to be launching the new journal Solar Energy Advances together with Prof Kolokotsa as the first Editor-in-Chief. We are thrilled to have someone with such proven experience in solar energy research and publishing and great motivation to build the 'Solar Energy Advances' into a leading journal.
