The vision of the "ISTRIA" project is the development of an integrated Rockfall monitoring and prediction system. The instant prediction of rockfall incidents can help significantly, the local authorities to take all the necessary safety measures in case where traffic is interrupted.

The objective of the "ISTRIA" project is the development of a low cost contemporary system, which will integrate innovative technologies and will have the flexibility to be adjusted in the characteristics of the monitoring region and the end user's needs.

The project is implemented in the "Synergasia 2011" framework and it is administered by the "National Organization of Research and Technology". It is also sponsored by the program "Competitiveness and Enterprises" (EPAN II), "Creation and development of innovation supported by research and technology" and the "Attiki" and the "Crete & Ionian Islands" P.E.P.
