Dr. Maria Bakatsaki is Laboratory Teaching and Research Staff (EDIP) in the School of Production Engineering and Management at the Technical University of Crete (TUC) in Greece, lecturing the courses of a) Management Systems, b) Technoeconomic Studies, c) Human Resource Management since 2013 and d) Computational Mechanics since 2009. She graduated from the School of Production Engineering and Management at Technical University of Crete in 1992. In 1993 she was hired as administrative staff at the Special Account of Research Budget of TUC being responsible for the financial management of many research and development projects of TUC, and the establishment of new administrative structures (such as Technology Transfer Office and Career Office of TUC). She has organized a lot of seminars, exhibitions, live, on-line and hybrid international conferences and events. She holds a M.Sc. Degree from the School of Production Engineering and Management (PEM) of TUC since 1999, and a Ph.D. Degree from PEM TUC since 2018. During her Ph.D., which was entitled “Development of an effective implementation framework for the assessment of the educational process in Higher Education”, she focused on student success, experiential learning and contemporary teaching methods. She was consultant in the Incubator of New Entrepreuners in Chania for 2 years and business coach for over 10 years in private businesses. Since 2014 she organizes online and hybrid courses using online and offline platforms and since 2016 is certified as an international Online Moodle Course Creator. During COVID-19 she was member of the Help Desk of the School of PEM organizing informational and educational events preparing academics for the sudden transition to digital classes.

She tries to keep updated her knowledge by attending various seminars and trainings. On 23.12.2023 she was certified to “Modern Developments in Offshore Structures” by a Continuing Education under the inter-university Programme for updating Knowledge of University Graduates, which was held from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in cooperation with University of Patras and Technical University of Crete (Duration: 150 hours, Grade: 8, ECTS:10). She has received from European University of Responsible Consumption and Production (EUREKA-PRO) a)on 28.10.2021 a certification about "Introduction to SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) in its economic, social, environmental and technology dimensions" (5 ECTS), and b) on 3.3.2023 a certification about "Implementation of Interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning (PBL) Projects". On December 2022 has succesfully completed the Executive Program "Neuroscience for Business" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology-MIT Management Sloan School.

Her main research interests are Management of Business Processes, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, Work Psychology, Motivation and Change Theories, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Quality in Education. Her recent research is focusing on Work-Life Balance, Eco-Intelligence, Sustainability Leadership and generally the soft side of Sustainability and Responsible Consumption & Production.
