Short CV: Demosthenes Ellinas graduated from Zanneion Experimental School in Piraeus and did his undergraduate studies in Physics at the University of Patras (1980). He continued postgraduate studies at the International School of Advance Studies (SISSA), in Trieste (1980-81), and at University of Helsinki, from where he obtained his PhD degree in Theoretical Physics (1990).

His research and teaching experience includes positions at the Research Institute for Theoretical Physics in Finland (TFT) (1984-87,1989), the University of Helsinki, Department of Theoretical Physics (1991), the Vaasa Institute of Technology in Finland (1991-92), the University of Valencia in Spain, Departamento de Fisica Teorica (1993-95) as postdoc, the University of Crete, Department of Mathematics (1995-97), the Technical University of Crete (TUC), Department of ECE (1997), Department of Sciences (1997-99), and the Athens University of Economics and Business, Department of Informatics (2008). 

He joined the Department of Science of TUC as assistant professor (1999), tenured (2003), promoted to associate professor (2004), and to professor (2010).

He made several extended visits as research fellow in The University of Queensland, Department of Mathematics, in Brisbane Australia (2000-10). In winter semester 2011 he took sabbatical leave from TUC to visit as visiting scholar the Engineering Quantum Systems Centre of Excellence of Macquarie University, Sydney, the School of Mathematics and Physics of University of Tasmania, and the School of Mathematics and Physics of The University of Queensland, in Australia. His current research work includes also collaboration with research teams in University of Glasgow, University of York, University of Leeds in UK, and the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia.
