    Webinar 18 April 2023, 13:30 - 17:00 (CET)

How higher education can support students in secondary education to develop innovation competencies

On Tuesday 18 April 2023, you are cordially invited to take part in an online event on how higher education can support students in secondary education to develop innovation competencies through collaboration on curriculum development and implementation.

The webinar will bring together an international audience of policymakers, school leaders, teachers, and representatives from higher education institutions to share developments in policy and practice and exchange on shared challenges. By facilitating an international policy dialogue and peer learning, the event will seek to identify key questions and possible ways forward for policymakers and practitioners to support the adoption and upscaling of partnerships between higher education institutions and secondary schools to support the development of innovation competencies.

The webinar will run from 13:30 until 17:00 CET (including a short break) and feature the following sessions:

    • Policy discussion opened by a keynote speech delivered by Professor Steven Strogatz, https://www.stevenstrogatz.com/   on the idea of introducing a “Math 101 course” in secondary schools to stimulate appreciation for mathematics
    • Case study presentations on higher education support for curriculum update, whole-school approaches, educational resources and science communication
    • Break-out sessions to solicit contributions from participants on how to scale effective institutional practices, and the role of public policy

Please click here to register for the event. A detailed agenda will be shared in the coming weeks.

This webinar is part of the Education Innovation Practice Community (EIPC), a joint initiative of the OECD and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC). It brings together peers from policy and practice to advance understanding of the competencies that trigger and shape innovation in our economies and societies, and the mechanisms through which higher education institutions can contribute to their development. For more information on EIPC, please see the attached information note. To stay updated on future EIPC events and publications, sign up to the EIPC mailing list by completing the online registration form. https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=1MdBrGEfDUaw9PySWitHHKgsOWjtEJdAptGpr4WNT_JUNEY0MzYxUVZMNTRISjEwVFZEWVEzN1NDSC4u
