    NEW POSITIONS IN STATISTICS AT KAUST: 1 RESEARCH SCIENTIST, 3 POSTDOCS, 3 PHD STUDENTS

    Multiple new positions in statistics are currently available in the Spatio-Temporal Statistics and Data Science research group of Distinguished Professor Marc G. Genton (http://stsds.kaust.edu.sa) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST): 1 Research Scientist, 3 Postdocs, and 3 PhD Students. The positions are in environmental, climate, and/or wind energy statistics and expertise/interest  in at least two of the following areas is desired: spatial and spatio-temporal statistics; processes on spheres; multivariate computational statistics; extremes; massive datasets; parallel computing; HPC; machine learning; AI; emulators; functional data; copulas; forecasting; visualization. Some of the positions will be associated with a current long-term project on wind energy assessment in Saudi Arabia based on high-resolution simulations and observational data.

    *** For Research Scientist and Postdoc positions: The successful candidates will have a doctoral degree in Statistics or in a field relevant to the topics above. Experience in interdisciplinary research is desirable and excellent programming skills are necessary. The positions come with a highly competitive tax-free salary as well as free housing and free health/dental insurance among other excellent benefits. The research scientist appointment is for a period of 3 years, renewable up to 5 years, and requires at least 2 years of active research post-PhD. The postdoctoral appointments are renewable annually with an expected duration of 2-3 years. Starting dates for these positions are immediately or to be arranged.
