Overview

Τhe National Mobility Consortium comprised of the three big Cretan Institutions (Technical University of Crete as applicant and coordinator, University of Crete and Hellenic Mediterranean University along with Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to correspond to the continuously increasing students demand towards wishing to undertake a traineeship within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. On this basis, this regional Consortium is seeking to resolve problems related to Crete's  geographical position, the southern-most and largest island in Greece. As unity is strength, it is expected all the partners involved will address common challenges, endorse employability of young graduates, promote research, innovation and student development and well-being while ensuring greater coherence between activities in the area of education and training. Participants will have the opportunity to receive a sound and thorough preparation and guidance, to improve language skills, and learn how to be  effective in heterogeneous and multi-cultural environments.  It is expected that the actions carried out by the Consortium will equip students with knowledge and core transferable competences (professional, social and personal) they need to successfully compete in highly skilled occupations. In addition these actions will improve the visibility of the partners, will promote and support international cooperation and linkages, while upgrading existing internal services and structures.

Through the TUC Mobility Consortium prospective trainees from European Universities will have the opportunity to carry out their traineeship within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program, at the members of Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry who are willing to host them. In that case they should address and apply at the Institution in which they carry out their studies.

Mission

The main target of the Mobility Consortium is to help and support students currently enrolled in the above mentioned higher education institutions at Bachelor and Master level as well as for doctoral candidates, in finding an appropriate traineeship, work placement, internship, etc, in Programme countries (Member States of the European Union + Non EU Countries, such as Former Yogoslav of Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey). These opportunities are also open to recent graduates. In this case, the traineeship must occur within one year of the student's graduation and he/she must apply while still being enrolled in his/her higher education institution. The traineeship abroad can last from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months, in accordance with the policy of each Institution and the annual funding available. It must be also relevant for the student's degree-related learning and personal development needs and, wherever possible, integrated in his/her study programme. A student may carry out a traineeship at any organisation in an Erasmus+ Programme Country (with the exception of EU institutions, bodies and agencies).

Grant support and insurance issues

Students will receive an EU grant as a contribution to their costs fro travel and subsistence during their period of traineeship abroad. These amount are defined by the National Agencies in agreement with National Authorities. The host organisation/institution/enterprise/company etc. may contribute through an optional stipend or any other additional contribution, like free meals or accommodation, but they are not required to give students any financial support.

The exact amounts for outgoing Greek trainees, are the following:

620 euros per month: Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Sweden, UK,  Luxemburg

570 euros per month: Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Netherlands, Malta, Portugal

520 euros per month: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey

All the future trainees shall have adequate insurance coverage. The participants themselves are responsible for the insurance costs from the grant received for the realization of the mobility activity, if not covered by other means. The home Institution is responsible to check that the Participant has health insurancegeneral liability insurance for third party and personal accident coverage in a mandatory way. Participants should be informed in advance about the situation in the host country as regards health insurance, general liability insurance coverage for third party and personal accident coverage. Usually basic coverage is provided by the national health insurance of the student as well during his/her stay in another EU country through the European Health Insurance Card. However, the coverage of the European Health Insurance Card or private insurance may not be sufficient, especially in case of repatriation and specific medical intervention. In that case, a complementary private insurance might be useful. It is the responsibility of the home institution of the student to ensure that the student is aware of health insurance issues. The Participant must have General Liability Insurance Coverage for Third Party concerning personal injury and / or damages caused to her / him as a person in the course of ordinary activities in the workplace resulting from accidents at work, during his/her stay abroad in an eligible country under the Erasmus+ Programme. The General Liability Insurance for Third Party may be provided by the company / host organization. Otherwise the Participant is covered by private insurance from its own resources. Accident Insurance coverage is related to the student's tasks (covering at least damages caused to the student at the workplace): Since personal accident insurance is not covered by the Host Institution / Organization receiving or the sending institution (on a voluntary basis as part of quality management). In case the Personal Accident Insurance coverage is not provided by the Host Institution / Organization, the Participant is covered by private insurance from its own resources concerning personal injury and / or damages caused to her / him as a person in the course of ordinary activities in the workplace resulting from accidents at work, during his/her stay abroad in an eligible country under the Erasmus+ Programme.
