The laboratories are expected to consider the students awarded such a grant as high potential candidates for thesis funding (in line with the LUE 2023 doctoral contract campaign for example, without however giving priority to candidates selected in this call) or co-funding of a co-tutored thesis with the partner in question.

The research internships can last 4 to 6 months. If the internship is carried out in a restricted access laboratory (ZRR), the internship supervisor will have to take into account the additional time needed to examine the student’s application, which impacts the starting date of the internship and access to the laboratory premises.

The funding for the Master Grants includes :

• A stipend for a 4-6 month internship of €1000 per month
• Financial support of €1000 for return travel.

Successful applicants will receive a maximum stipend of €7000

• Evaluation session: from 17/11/25 to 01/12/25

This interdisciplinary course examines the foundations of science and engineering through the historical lenses of alchemy, natural philosophy, and magic in Europe. Aimed primarily at students with a technical background, it traces the evolution of scientific thought from ancient traditions to early modern science, highlighting how alchemists, natural philosophers, and even occultists contributed to the principles underpinning today’s scientific and engineering disciplines.

Through engagement with primary texts, encounters with influential figures, and discussions of landmark experiments, participants will explore the interplay of mysticism, experimentation, and technical innovation that shaped early scientific inquiry. The course deepens understanding of the cultural, philosophical, and technological legacy that paved the way for modern engineering, while also offering insight into public expectations of science and technology in historical context. 

The course is tailored for Master and PhD students. It is also open to the public.

The Silesian University of Technology (SUT), proud partner of the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO), as part of the PROM Project for Short-Term Academic Exchanges, which runs until December 31, 2025, is launching another round of applications for the following groups of incoming participants:

As part of the project, SUT offers mobility funding for trips lasting 5-12 days from partner institutions to SUT. Mobility funding includes a lump sum for subsistence and accommodation costs, depending on the origin location of the trip. Due to limited participant numbers, mobility will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

You've probably already guessed it: in higher education, the portmanteau of globalisation and localisation means that locally relevant education and research integrate global developments. In other words, it is about serving the local needs of the labour market and at the same time educating future professionals who are capable of acting and having an impact in a globalised world.

In fact, this also goes hand in hand with the internationalisation of universities. It is therefore a key topic for the future-oriented design of curricula and research at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences – just as it is for our European University Alliance EURECA-PRO. With the Education & Research Days from 3rd to 5th February 2026, our partner, the Hasselt University in Belgium, is organising an international forum for exchange and learning among experts.
