Our strategy is to achieve climate-neutral energy generation by 2050. Wind energy is an important cornerstone of this strategy. The development, construction and management of on-shore as well as off-shore wind farms is taking place in five countries.

Business Unit Renewables is responsible to manage and operate all Offshore and Onshore wind parks as well as Offshore and Onshore wind projects with regards to development, construction and execution within the Region Continental/UK. In addition BU Renewable identifies profitable growth options for any other kind of renewable energy sources and develops solutions for system integration of renewable energy sources.

As Vattenfall’s Offshore Wind business continues to grow, we are looking to increase the size of our Sandbank project team with the hire of an IAC Engineer.

Sandbank is an offshore wind farm in the German North Sea located next to DanTysk wind farm with 96 planned turbine locations fully permitted (80+16) with a capacity up to 576 MW (Base case 288MW). This is the next big Offshore Wind Project after Dan Tysk which will contribute enormously to the sustainable targets of Vattenfall.

What will you do as IAC Engineer?

As an IAC Engineer your prime responsibilities is to support the IAC package in all aspects of procurement, planning and execution including design, manufacture, installation and commissioning activities.

 

  • Reporting to the IAC Package Manager on overall performance of Contractors during design, manufacture, installation and commissioning activities at site/offshore. 
  • Evaluation and monitoring of contractual obligations and contract handling
  • Coordination of quality assurance and quality control
  • Monitoring of time schedule and progress of suppliers
  • Interface with Turbine and other Electrical packages and plant suppliers to ensure consistency and satisfactory performance of works
  • Administrative tasks within IAC package e.g. Livelink, taking minutes, etc.
  • Support in compliance with the project budget; address changes to package manager
  • Contribute to the identification and management of risks, opportunities and mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance of requirements of O&M with the IAC package
  • Technical review of reports, design   and system studies supplied by Contractors and third parties(e.g. Cable optimisation, Load flow, Faultstudies etc.)
  • Support project management of IAC implementation during contract execution phase
  • Ensure compliance of contractual partners with contractual obligations for the IAC
  • Ensure the Project maintains high levels of health and safety standards
  • Support certification process for detailed design of IAC to achieve 2nd BSH clearance
  • Support all dedicated interfaces to other work packages

What are we looking for?

 

  • University degree in electrical engineering or comparable background
  • Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in on- and offshore logistics for trouble-shooting within areas like cable- or switchgear electrical faults ideally within Offshore sector
  • Experience within wind turbines and wind farms in development, design or planning of electrical machines / systems within the offshore wind industry or very closely related industry
  • In-depth experience with negotiations and contract management, good commercial understanding
  • Good office and project management IT skills
  • Experience within a complex multi-disciplinary project environment
  • Knowledge of the main electrical components in wind farms or other similar plant
  • Identification with the renewable energies as well as high degree of initiative and commitment
  • Very good written and spoken English, additional Danish or German language skills are advantageous 

Location

The position is flexible but Hamburg preferred and will require travelling within Continental Europe/UK.
