Zoom Meeting Service

This is a free Zoom service that provides video conferencing (up to 40 minutes) to many participants (up to 100), even if they do not have a Zoom account, provided they have Zoom installed on their device. The meeting moderator (Zoom user) prepares the virtual meeting room and invites the participants by sharing the web address of the meeting room. Participants have the ability to chat, see each other, share their screen, exchange messages, and even record their entire meeting on video.

The service is recommended for workshops, presentations, lectures with a small audience.
Participants are not predetermined.

How may I get access?

To participate, you need the address of the invitation and install Zoom (once).
To initiate a video conference, you need a basic Zoom account.

  • the coordinator creates the ideal meeting room with "Meeting", specifying the date and time
  • the meeting is uniquely identified by a web address, which is created in advance
  • the web address can be copied and shared as an invitation before the meeting
  • anyone who knows this address can attend the meeting, even without a Zoom account
  • participation is simple: open the web address in a browser, optionally install Zoom and enter the meeting id, join using a Zoom account or as guest
  • on the set day and time, the coordinator starts the meeting and the participants connect by their own
  • anyone can join or leave at any time, the connected participants are always displayed
  • the coordinator selects Screen Sharing to share the desktop screen or any other window with everyone
  • the participants can simultaneously see the coordinator and the shared screen
  • questions and interventions are possible at any time

Skype Meet Now Service

This is a free Skype service that provides video conferencing to many participants, even if they don't have a Skype account and/or Skype installed on their device. The meeting moderator (Skype user) prepares the virtual meeting room and invites the participants by sharing the web address of the meeting room. Participants have the ability to chat, see each other, share their screen, exchange messages, and even record their entire meeting on video.

  • the coordinator creates the virtual meeting room with "Meet Now", specifying the date and time
  • for ease of identification, a tentative name can be given to the meeting
  • the meeting is uniquely identified by a web address, which is created in advance
  • the web address can be copied and shared as an invitation before the meeting
  • anyone who knows this web address can attend the meeting, even without a Skype account
  • participation is simple: open the web address in a browser and join using a Skype account or as guests
  • registration can be made in advance (guest accounts only lasts for 24 hours)
  • on the set day and time, the coordinator starts the meeting and the participants connect on their own
  • anyone can join or leave at any time, the connected participants are always displayed
  • the coordinator selects Screen Sharing to share the desktop screen with everyone
  • the participants can simultaneously see the coordinator and the shared screen
  • questions and interventions are possible at any time.

Webex Video Conference Service

The Webex service is provisionally free of charge and involves two-way videoconferencing with up to 100 participants at the same time without time restrictions. The meeting moderator is required to have an account in advance on the Webex platform. After connecting to the platform, one can create the virtual meeting room and invite the participants by sharing the web address of the meeting room. Participants do not need to have an account on the platform. They can connect to the conference call via the Webex application or through a compatible browser. Video recording is also provided.

To participate, you need the web address of the invitation.
To initiate a video conference, you have to activate a Webex account.

  • the meeting room is uniquely identified by a web address or a meeting id, which are created in advance
  • the web address or meeting id can be copied and shared as an invitation before the meeting
  • anyone who knows this web address or meeting id can attend the meeting even without a Webex account
  • participation is simple: open the web address in a browser, optionally install Webex, join using a Webex account or as guest
  • on the set day and time, the coordinator starts the meeting and the participants connect on their own
  • anyone can join or leave at any time, the connected participants are always displayed
  • the coordinator selects Screen Sharing to share the desktop screen with everyone
  • the participants can simultaneously see the coordinator and the shared screen
  • questions and interventions are possible at any time.

Skype for Business Video Conference Service

This service is provided free of charge to members of the academic community and can be used by faculty members, researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students, administrative and technical staff to organize and participate in videoconferencing with any of their associates. Conference participants (up to 250) can be connected either from their office or from their home, provided they have an adequate broadband internet connection, a web camera and headphones / microphones (the use of speakers is inadvisable due to noise interference). Participants can connect to the conference call by invitation of the organizer without having to install the Skype for Business software on their computer.

Teleconferencing for Administrative Bodies (e:Presence)

The e:Presence service is offered to the Greek academic and research community and enables its members to organize and conduct web conferencing of high quality and interactivity. e:Presence supports the conference meetings of all administrative bodies (Senate, Rectorate Council, Departmental Assemblies, Electorates, ...) with teleconferencing and fully complies with the requirements and specifications set out by the related Joint Ministerial Decision (ΦΕΚ 433/τ. B'/17-03-2011 [pdf]). Video conferencing can be accomplished either via personal computers (Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Linux), or via mobile devices (Android and iOS), or via videoconferencing terminals (H323 and SIP). Video recording of sessions is not possible. The support of conference meetings through the e:Presence service eliminates travel costs for members of the institutions, while facilitating their work in cases of impossibility for physical presence.

Participants are authenticated using their institutional credentials.

How may I get access?

To participate, only the institutional account is required.
To initiate a session, a ticket must be posted on helpdesk.tuc.gr, with the desired date, time, and duration of the meeting, the H.323 terminals to be used (if any) and the participating members along with their emails (institutional for TUC members) to which the invitation will be sent.
