Σεμινάριο "A View on some AI Methods and Applications" @ TUC | 2-4.07.2025

Ο Καθ. Νικόλαος Μπουρμπάκης από το Purdue University των ΗΠΑ και Επίτιμος Καθηγητής του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης, επισκέπτεται το Ίδρυμά μας, από 30 Ιουνίου έως 4 Ιουλίου 2025, στο πλαίσιο του Προγράμματος Erasmus+ (Διεθνής Κινητικότητα, KA 171, CALL 2022) και της Διϊδρυματικής συμφωνίας που έχει υπογραφεί μεταξύ του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης και του Purdue University. Στο πλαίσιο της επίσκεψής του, ο κ. Μπουρμπάκης προσφέρει με χαρά ένα Ανοιχτό Σεμινάριο για Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη (Artificial Intelligence - AI). Όλα τα μέλη της Πολυτεχνικής Κοινότητας είναι ευπρόσδεκτα να παρακολουθήσουν! Στα διαλείμματα θα προσφερθούν κεράσματα και αναψυκτικά στους συμμετέχοντες!

Περιγραφή

In the last three decades the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has triggered the interest of the research community to focus and develop methods and applications on several important areas. In addition, the advances on the Robotics field have significantly impacted the Academic and Industrial evolution. Thus, the synergy among AI methods and Advanced Robotics will benefit the humanity in many different ways, if it will be appropriately used.

In this series of talks, the speaker will present and briefly analyze methodologies and their applications for:

  • Objects and Actions Recognition
  • Technical Documents Deep Understanding
  • Planning and Navigation of Autonomous Robots
  • Robot-Assistants for People with Special Needs
  • Health Monitoring and Prognosis Devices
  • Brain Analysis

For students, a certificate of attendance will be given at the end of this series.


Βιογραφικό

Dr. Nikolaos Bourbakis (IEEE Life Fellow) currently is the Director of the Bio-AI Foundation based in Ohio, USA and a Visiting Research Professor at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, USA. He is also an Honorary Professor of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and an External Member of the Governing Council of the Technical University of Crete (TUC). He was the Founder and the EIC of three International Journals, namely Artificial Intelligence Tools (World Scientific Publ.), Monitoring and Surveillance Tech Research (IGI-Global, Publ.), and Bioengineering & Bioinformatics (EAI Transactions). He is the Founder and the Steering Committee Chair of several International IEEE Computer Society Conferences (like ICTAI-Tools with AI, ICBIBE-Bioinformatics & Bioengineering, IISA-Information, Intelligence, Systems & Applications), Symposia and Workshops. He pursues research in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Assistive Technologies and Bioengineering, Information Security, and Parallel/Distributed Processing, funded by Government and industry. He has extensively published in IEEE and International Journals and Conferences, and he has graduated several dozens of PhD students. His research work has been internationally recognized and he has won several IEEE and other prestigious awards.
